Default the bastard build is finished!

Mark and WinnR and I (well Mark did half of the build heheh)finished the Bastard build yesterday.
reason I call it that is its a Romainian AKM kit with a Chicom milled stock with what we think is a Polish milled rear trunion .
anyways we built this on a OOW receiver and mark did all the drilling on the front end and helped me do the riveting, and pressed in the barrel and barrel pin.
I had previously milled out for the rear folder trunion and fabricated the pins for it since none came with the stock. WinnR was there directing us the whole way and without that we might have smooshed or twisted the receiver! Winn, Thanks for the help bud!
well here she is after a bit of wood work (Winn donated a painted lower handguard so I scraped off the paint on both for a uniform look) and a little fab on the selector to get it to work in the OOW receiver.

Did you blue the receiver again? Its looks pretty good if I must say. I had a blast helping you build it and shoot it. I agree with you on WinnR, glad he talked us in to using xebecs tool instead of my method. I have never had a barrel give me trouble like that one. And that damn barrel pin was tough to get back in to.

    Thanks!
you should see it in person I love the worn out look this kit has with the unfinished receiver! we were talking yesterday about how great these kits look when left alone. they really exude that hard combat used look and have tons more charecter than the new looking rifles do.

    Mark,
I decided to not re-blue the receiver. I think it looks about right with that thin blue that OOW puts on them, it is a little lighter than the romy blueing but I figure if I go over the receiver again it will be too dark.

Try a little section on the bottom of the receiver to test.

Love 'em when you get the hook in and they pop through the 1st mag without a hitch!!

That wood does look better now that we can see it.

Excellent build dude - It's fun to get creative and design your own with odd n' ends.

    Did I do that?
