In my other readings on one of those soldiers, the people knew or well suspected, they were out there.
They flew Japanese speaking people over to tell them the war was over. Also like the article reads, they dropped leaflets telling them the war is zippo, nada, fineto, yo dude like what part of you don't hear any more shooting don't you comprenday bro.
I give him credit for being one tough survivalist, but I think I would have taken a dish washing jobs at one of the local resorts.
He could have like sent messages back to Tokyo Rose or something.
