No, I just did the park job and assembly. The parts are from a cheep Romy. The parts are from a group buy at Weaponeer.net.

The rail goes in the place of the rear sight and is rivited to the dust cover so the dust cover now hinges up.

Looks good, I may have to buy some manganese from ebay and make a trip to home depot. Thanks

Pay your wife. My wife picked it out. She "suprised" me with it after one of my trips overseas. To make it up to me, she bought me one of those $600 stainless steel gas grills. Seems she whas the winner all the way rounds since she like to eat off the grill too.

I hope to soon try this with the black stuff out of an alkaline battery. Once I can verify that works, it will make it easier to get the "hard to get" ingredient. If you do use a battery, be sure and use a face shield when you cut them open.

BTW, the manganese dioxide goes a long way.

Cut them open?? The guy that told me how to do it takes a BFH and smashes them. Scoops up the black crumbs and starts a brew'n.

Well that may mix the center with the outside. The center is some sort of zinc compound that also may be useful for zinc park.

I don't know if they would work. If you try it, I would do my park and get the solution out of it. I am no chemist but I do not know if the acid would eat the aluminmum or copper up or not.

It will definitely etch/eat up the AL, dunno about copper. The commercial park instructions are explicit in prohibiting AL anywhere near the solution. I suspect the dissolved AL winds up deposited on the steel just like the zinc or manganese does.
