    Default stain for blonde furniture?

I have a '74 stockset that i would like to stain the classic "blonde" color. I haven't really been able to acheive it though. Any tips?

What color do you have now? Bleach, in the form of Oxalic acid, is the common way to lighten wood color.

usually the blond finish is with a clear finish, shellac or tung oil, etc...

for the 74 stock set, i would strip the wood and use tung oil, 3-4 coats per the directions

another technique, pioneered by the guys at "the box o truth" is to use rit dye, rub it into the stock, and then coat it with a clear poly finish. i really like how their rifles turned out with this style of refinishing.
