I use an ultrasonic cleaner on my brass, looks like new INSIDE as well as out.

I use a mix of water, vinegar and dish soap. Like ingredients on a package, in decreasing order of how much is in the mix.

That's followed by a soak in water/baking soda to neutralize the vinegar.
