Default ATF Softening stance on Barrel Ban????

    Read this on another post.

Seems if you can use a barrel to build an "importable" weapon, the ATF may give special considerations.

It seems to have brought about by dealers saying that guns like the Saiga are importable, but the barrels aren't. Double standard.

Who knows? From way it sounds it looks like they can be imported, but sold only to a 3rd patry.

I have to wonder what Century does as an importer and a builder?

And Arsenal, and Krebs, and Robinson, and...and...and...

I wonder if some pro-gun person higher up put his foot down and told ATF to back off as long as the firearms built are suitable for sporting purposes?

    Time will tell.

I was just on the phone with a source and he was explaining it much better then the he had to get of the phone. He is supposed to call back in a few min. He was saying there will be nothing as far as surplus barrels.

    He called back.

No threads or anything. Has to be brand new barrels smooth as if for sporting rifles.

Then you have the importer has to state exactly what the barrel is for and what model it will be put on and who is building it. So.... No selling to the public for building purposes.

That sorta jibes with my take on it after reading threads on other forums: a manufacturer like Arsenal will be able to import barrels IF they say it's for so-and-so model and they've submitted a sample of that gun to ATF for approval.

More red tape. Home Builders are screwed; manufacturers are inconvenienced.

...And all this is based on a law that says NOTHING about barrels or rcvrs other than in the context of completed firearms. Another case of the Bunch of Assholes Torching Freemen making up laws to justify thier existence.

Yup..... Basically what I have been told is somone up IN the AG's office is highly pisssed that people can buy this stuff and build it. They are not happy about receivers being made either.

How long before we see a ruling that AK recievers are no longer allowed to be made?
