    Default refinished receiver

    I have a remington rifle that has sentimental value that the receiver needs refinished but to do this the serial # may be lost what options do i have legally

    I don't see how refinishing it would remove the serial number. Even bead blasting it should leave the SN intact. Could you post a pic?

    If it's worn or rusted off, you might see if Remington would restamp the receiver and they would probably reblue it for a fee. I've seen Smith & Wesson do that on a revolver.

    Call Remington and ask them about it.

    the receiver is so damaged that the pits will need to be filled in possibly causing the serial numbers to be filled in the process. thanks I will contact remington
