    Default .410 to .45 ACP ???

Looking in advance for any issues in rebarreling a .410 bolt action shotgun to a rifled barrel .45 ACP of 16+ inches. Any secret rules involved in this permanent swap ??? Those great old Spanish Destroyer carbines are today gone with the wind and using a full size Mauser '98 seems a bit overboard.

My modest reloading comparisons seem to indicate that the .45 ACP has a bit less breach thrust than does the .410.

    Thanks,
    VD

    muttman,

For that to be legal, it has to also chamber/fire a pistol round (.45LC, .454 Casull, etc...) like a Taurus Judge, or a Bond arms Snake Slayer...

if it can't chamber any pistol round, then it's an SBS...

.45 LC is closer than .45 ACP, because of the length & rimmed cartridge- they're both very similar in base diameter.

SBS stand for Short Barreled Shotgun

I just keep CCI shotshells in .45ACP for snakes... we only have rattlesnakes here, but that's more than enough to take them out.

    Hello Lunyfringe,
I am thinking more along the lines of a simple, inexpensive Delisle carbine clone using a 1911 .45 ACP mag perhaps.

Yes, the .45 Colt revolver round is logical for a conversion too.
