On this week's edition of "The Hal Lindsey Report": On Tuesday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon convened the United Nations Summit on Climate Change. The session was attended by scores of heads of state from around the world. Secretary General Ban sees this summit as beginning the final push toward "an ambitious agreed outcome based on science at the UN climate talks in Copenhagen" in December. Sounds ominous.

President Obama was the first national leader to speak. He said he was "proud to say" that the United States had done more to promote clean energy and reduce carbon pollution during his first eight months in office "than at any other time in our history." He must have been rhetorically referring to the "stimulus" money he received but hasn't spent yet.

However, he didn't actually propose anything concrete. That's why some of his most ardent environmentalist supporters are getting angry. They smell another Kyoto in the air.

And they won't admit it, but the air they're sniffing is somewhat cooler. In fact, this was a rather mild summer worldwide this year. That's probably due, in part, to the unusual solar minimum cycle we're currently experiencing. The global warming crowd (now they're known as the 'climate change' crowd since the 'warming' argument is beginning to wear thin) grudgingly admits that the cooling temperatures are due to the 'quiet sun' we've had in recent years. They blame the sun for the earth's cooling, but continue to blame man for the earth's warming. Go figure.

This week, I'm going to show you video of former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice signing documents with leaders from the Czech Republic and Poland. Those documents embodied agreements for the US to place radar stations and Ballistic Missile Defense batteries in those nations. What's more, the Bush Administration didn't have to twist the arms of those countries to persuade them to allow us to install those defense systems. Their governments accepted them willingly, even enthusiastically. Those two nations are staunch allies of the US and want to develop closer ties with both the US and NATO. In fact, they've been among our firmest allies in Iraq.

I'll also show you video of President Obama announcing that those agreements weren't worth the paper they were written on. Russia didn't want the BMD systems there, so, of course we'll make believe we never agreed to place them there in the first place. That way, Russia will be unimpeded as it seeks to re-establish its hegemony over the former Soviet Socialist Republics.

And to add a grace note to the deed, the President announced our abandonment of the Czechs and the Poles on the 70th anniversary of Germany's invasion of Poland. Somebody in the White House did his homework!

It's interesting that the Muslim world observes "Jerusalem Day" each year. That's the day Muslims stand in solidarity with the Palestinians. I say that it's interesting because even though Jerusalem is mentioned 700 times in the Jewish Holy Scriptures, it's not mentioned once in the Koran. King David founded Jerusalem, Mohammed never even visited it. (Of course, the Muslims say Mohammed tied his horse at the base of the Temple Mount and ascended to heaven from there. However, at the time, a Christian church stood on that spot. That's an interesting point of departure for the founder of Islam who considers Christians infidels!) But I digress. The Jews pray facing Jerusalem, the Muslims pray with their backs turned toward it. Until mid 20th-century, Jerusalem was nothing but a dirty backwater town to the Muslims, until the Jews began to return to the city. Then it became important to them.

All that to say this: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad chose "Jerusalem Day" to unleash another tirade against Israel. (He was apparently trying out material for his later appearance at the opening of the United Nations -- but we'll cover that next week.) It's not that he said anything new, it's just alarming that he continues to spew the rhetoric as his nation barrels toward becoming a nuclear power. It's also alarming that nobody seems willing to stand up to Iran. We know now that even the IAEA is apparently in on the cover-up.

Well, we knew it would happen sooner or later. A United Nations organization has labeled the US Dollar a "global confidence game." The UN Conference on Trade and Development also called for the dollar to be replaced as the world's reserve currency. They want some sort of international currency. China, India, Brazil, and Russia agree. In fact, China is beginning to purchase large amounts of SDR's or Special Drawing Rights from the International Monetary Fund. Any day now, China could call in its markers and the US would be bankrupt.

Folks, it's all beginning to unravel. America is in more danger of falling than at any time in its history. But I believe Bible prophecy predicts this very decline. From this point on, we believers have to get serious. We are going to face discouragement, disillusionment and, most certainly, persecution in the time between now and the Rapture. But don't be discouraged or disillusioned. The coming turmoil will provide us unrivaled opportunities to share the good news of the Gospel. So be ready to share your faith and your hope with those who need Christ. We still have time to reap a great harvest of souls for God's kingdom!

By the way, some of you e-mailed some questions regarding that period following the Rapture and the role of the Holy Spirit during that time. I'll attempt to answer some of those questions this week.
