The spring loaded window punch he mentions is nothing other than a spring loaded centerpunch, and works very well on tempered (most side window) auto glass. I've used them often enough on MVA rescue calls when doors are damaged shut.
If you have the time, duct tape the window nearly completely first, else the glass bits can "explode" onto the passenger and will go all over the place in any case.
