Another great post! We run our furnace from a 250 gallon tank & never thought of converting a generator? DUH?
I have been gathering info on making a wood or " producer" gas generator with the idear of using that gas to run a generator in tough times....well.....it's tough now...but not quite there. Time to ramp up preps a bit though in my mind.

Oh...I would suggest buying 40lb propane tanks. That's what I use for parking tanks, oxy/ propane torch setup & general farm use. Propane is just like welding gases in that the larger tanks don't cost much more than the small tanks to fill.In other words you can fill a 40 pounder for WAY less than TWO twenty pounders. The 40 pound tanks are still fairly easy to handle for a crippled old man. I have my propane delivery man fill my tanks when he comes to fill our 250 gal pig. That way I get the good pre-buy price...Heh...heh
