As the author stated, blackouts are not uncommon in New England during the winter. Although they are no where near as common as they used to be. Any of Us old timers who were here during the blizzard of 78, have some sort of blackout plan.
I have everything from a stock pile of batteries to a 6000 watt generator in place. About the only thing I don't have, that I want to add, is some sort of an emergency radio.
Good info for others though.
