Talking bolt action vs semi for SHTF?

the bolt action rifle verses the semi auto for SHTF?

everybody these days and even his brother has a semi rifle for the SHTF , zombie invasion, disaster prep kit.

i do recall how well the m40 and m24 did in the shit hole. the bolt action has some serious things going for it.

simplicity, easy to service, rugged, easy to sight in, very accurate, some of the new hunting/scout rifles are very quick handling and not expensive.

the down side to them is slow rate of fire and slow to reload. and not totally lefty friendly.

these rate of fire does conserve ammo and it teaches you to shoot properly.

back when i was a kid i had a single shot bolt action .22 , i downed many a tree rat with it. ONE shot cause that was the best it could do.

today when kids go hunting it sounds like their defending "fire-base alpha" from being overrun by tango. they shoot 500 rounds and bring back two or three bullet riddled tree rats!

with ammo expensive, politically incorrect, and possibly getting very short in supply the bolt is looking better to fill the role.

a bolt, a revolver and a pump action splattergun could fill most needs except for the lone gunman defending fire-base gloria. and even then i wouldn't want to intrude on a guy with a bolt gun that really knew his shit.

some places where the PC police are active these guns are still considered 'sporting' for now anyway.

i don't consider this guy to be under-gunned except in the most off the wall situations.

is the bolt action scoped rifle good enough to rival the semi for SHTF/bugout?

and you won't need a bizillion rounds of ammo for it either!
