Community is important, but I believe it is also important to look at those people and realize that the majority, if it comes down to it, will sacrifice you, or anyone else in the group, to protect them and theirs if it come down to that.
My group consists of family and a VERY few very close friends that are more like family than friends. That is about as far as my ultimate trust goes.
