I have never heard were the 911 recordings could not be used as evidence 1 way or the other or were they have never been kept. I have always been under the impression that they can be public record if they are involved in a court case as well.

Recordings that police agencies and thier agents 911 centers etc, do not and usally will not release any recordings in what is considered an on going investigation, or anything that may have to do with a Homeland security Issue, The Patroit Act Covers alot of territory. How ever a person can do Freedom of Information Act form to have it released. In the majority of cases the onl;y way it will get released is if a Reporter dose it .unless you have a paticular intrest in the case such as you are involved and you can use it as eveidence.
