yea i got some really off the wall accuracy issues with two of the three the minis. the stainless ones were the worst. the other two were OK if 4MOA is your thing.

i probably could have tuned up the old 180 today--cut the barrel back some, add a heavy honking FH to dampen things down a bit. replace all those screws that kept backing out and striping with some good steel SPS hex screws--

the potential of the mini was there --it was the execution was poorly done.

i think ruger had some issues with their barrel steel in the minis.

the mini was one of those guns that everybody loved till they had one for a few years.

i didn't find them all that reliable either. kind of makes me wonder about all the gun rags going on on how reliable the mini was over the AR-15??--LOL!

when the dod was testing the AC-5.56 versions for export , one was firing full auto the bolt flew out of the carbine. i think the op-rod shattered --

we took apart another one that had see about 1k mostly full auto.

the moving parts were pounded all to hell , like the steel was too soft or they skipped the heat treat. then again it might have been cooking off rounds that beat it all to hell--

there were a few decent mags for the .223 mini those smoked plastic LANCERS seemed to run well enough.

if winchester had made the mini in the 1960s before they went wall street--that could have worked--LOL

everyone really wanted the mini to be the shit cause it was the m1a1s little brother --

a good smith might be able to do wonder with a good example.

a side note numrich had a bunch of used mini barrels for $60 they were pulls, now the question was were they pulls from guns set up with shop barrels or were they customer returns to the ruger factory?--
