The AMA has been recommending their members ask about firearms ownership to establish "risk." Supposedly a couple of medical insurance carriers also ask for firearms ownership information. There have also been numerous reports of schools asking children if their parents had any guns.
Again, they've been doing this since the 1980s at least. When I used to try to tell people about it they acted like I just claimed to have beamed down from the mothership. Now they get all hot and bothered, and can't understand why I'm not.
