Wow !! After all the gunk and crap was cleared off and a good sanding applied... I noticed quite a unique look under there. This stock actually looks great. I got 1 good coat of stain on there and I think I will top it off with several coats of poly or Tung oil. I don't want it much darker than this.

I wish the 2 I have so far looked that good! I have 4 more on the way, so maybe I will get one that is unique.

You know, its a strange thing. I was kinda looking for someone who knows a little about the Suomi. This particular kit i am working on now is very different from the other 3 I have. For one, this stock looks completely different. This stock has a sling swivel attatched to a wood screw and it just screws into the buttstock. Also, it has a metal bevel type thing right under the grip. You can see it in the pic. The most noticable thing is that the end of the heat shield has a muzzlebrake incorporated on the end. My other Suomi's don't have this. The other Suomi kits have an indention milled into the buttstock with a metal bar thru the middle for attatching the sling as well as a slant cut at the end of the heatshield. Anyone know anything about this ? Maybe this one I am working on is just a very old one ????
