View Full Version : AK Barrel

So I've been in the process of building my AK and now I'm to the point where I need to put the barrel back in.
I got it in about a 1/4 inch [maybe less], I add some more force [with the press] and it seems to push the barrel to the side instead of into the barrel hole.
What am I doing wrong? :pissed:

as long a you're sure the surfaces are free of burrs and knicks, realign the barrel in the press and keep pushing. did you lube it with anything ? i use antisieze compound. make damn sure you're not putting any force on the reciever. support the trunion only.

I'm fairly sure there isn't anything on the surface. I'll be sure to double check though.
I put some lube on it, and also have some WD40 as well.
I will also double check to make sure I'm only pushing on the trunnion.

also make sure everything is straight, and not wobbly !!

Alright, so I got the barrel in yesterday. [YAY] My only problem now is, since the barrel was so tight it would only go in by "snaps" and not slowly move in. I tried my best, but seems like I pushed it in too far.
How would I go about pushing it out a little bit?
I tried putting the barrel pin in to see if it'd shift the barrel, but it doesn't. haha.
Here's my AK so far.

you need a long solid rod (12-16") to insert into the breech and press it out that way. use a penny on the face of the barrel.

Looking good! Did you build your own receiver?

BigAl..> Alright thanks, I'll give that a try.
poppop..> Yes I did. This is my first build so it's not the greatest. I got a few dents and scratches on it right now. I bought the $10 flats from Copes. My only complaint with them is the rails don't have the holes pre-drilled. Not too big of a deal though, just some more work and lining up.
