View Full Version : Old and new build

Here is a pic of a Galil I built using a homemade receiver - Flats with trunnions made from demilled receiver pieces. Built the homemade receiver 4 plus years ago. Below the "old school build" is the CFS kit with a Century Arms receiver (I believe a Rapid Fire product) quickly slid together. Seems like it shouldnt be to tough to build - need to buy .223 headspace gauges. Also anyone know who is selling new handguards/grips or other US compliant Galil parts. For those wondering about the kits condition - used - looks like more wear from carry than firing. All the parts will be reparked anyways so its not that important to me.

:thumbup1: Those look nice.
Here's some gauges, the price seems good too.

Sweet builds!!!!! The reciever parts look sorta like a weld pack that I've seen here for sale (a year or so ago) The reason I ask is they have notches in them just like the weld packs that were for sale. Was that your pattern? I am not familiar with the Galil does it have a small upper rail like the ak? if so how did you form or build it???????? thanks in advance for the info

Coils - thanks for the lead on the gauges - just bought go - no/go - and field gauges. Way over due considering all the AR builds I have done.
Yes - the 4 piece receiver flats are mine - I sell them too. Basically using demilled receiver stubs machined down to make trunnions I welded it all together using standard AK 5.45 rails/ejector.

I like the looks of your receiver better than the store bought one!

The top one in the pic is BAD A**, kinda looks like something an old school SWAT member would carry, I'm all about the tactical look.:brows:

Very nice looking, and great job on the build!
A Galil is really the only other rifle I want which I don't have yet.
