Has anyone tried one of these?
Speedway Series 6 Ton Shop Press
Will it be strong enough to bend a flat?
I need to get one of my own, and not keep bugging my buddy to use his.
Your opinion is very welcome.:thumbup1:

Considering the borrowed 50 ton press had a gauge that showed 6-8 tons max pressure when I bent both Tapco and AK-Builder flats, I'd say a 6 ton would be an iffy proposition to bend flats.
I don't think it'd press tight barrel pins, either.

get a harbor freight 12 ton press there $109.99

I think it would work for flats, but not much more.

Do you think it would hold if I put a 12ton jack on it?
It would have the same presure & it would more stable than the
Harbor Freight 12 ton press.
I hear that Harbor Freight presses have a lot of slop.

12 tons in a 6 ton cup. Hmmm. Nope, I likey my body without pieces of metal sticking out of it.
People have gotten away with worse, but never me.

Hey guys, just wanted to ask what you guys think of the Northern tool press. The only thing that confuses me is that it says the working range is 10" and max is 35"?? The ram doesn't get closer to the work piece than 10 inches? Any one have any suggestion? Thank You.

Working range is the stroke length. the ram will travel from 0 to 10 inches during a press. Using blocks and the press bars you should be able to get your workpiece nearly touching the ram before you start.
The max is the max throat on the press. With a 35 inch throat, if your AK receiver were 36 inches thick, you couldn't work it. If 34 or 35 inches thick, you could. 36 inch thick receiver. Wonder if there'd be any flex?
