View Full Version : first build

Hello, new to the forum. Here is my first build from a Romanian G kit I bought last month. I'm glad I bought it when I did. They are getting hard to find. Hopefully it will not be my last. I put it together on an NDS-3 receiver, using screws. I know some frown on the screw build method. Being new to kit building I used the knowledge and tools that I have on hand. I did break one Tap on the last hole in the front trunion that I was threading. It took some patience and about 30 min to remove. I would like to do a rivet build for my next one. Anyhow, glad to be hear. Hope to learn alot from y'all.

Great job who cares if you used screws or rivets the point is you built it, now it means something to you and if your like me you'll have it forever or until they pry it from your cold dead hands. How's she shoot?

Hawncho is right, you built it. As long as you feel safe holding it to your face and pulling the trigger, repeted times a screw build is right for you. But I don't know about the "have it forever" part, if I get tired of my guns. I know that I have the ability to demill agian, and build something else.
But that is a great looking gun, keep up the good building. :thumbup1:

It looks great, you did well. And don't worry about screws. One nice thing about them is a quick demill should you decide to do it a bit different, like change it out to a sidefolder or something. Cheers!

Nice looking first build.
And I agree, as long as you know it's put together right, there's nothing wrong with a screw build. Also it can easily be switched to rivets if you feel like it later on.

I took it with me to work on Fort Hood last Friday. I had just enough time to put 20 rounds through it at 25 meters. It functioned perfectly. Windage was right on, had to adjust elevation a tad. I will take it to my families ranch here in the near future. My father and I built a range where we can shoot up to 300 yds.

Nice build. My first AK was a Romy screw build and it turned out great. I subsequently purchased some great tools from Curtis at AK-Builder.com to make my rivet builds alot easier.
