Got my lifetime permit in '07. It's nice not having to worry about replacing it any more.
Huh? Lifetime permit? Where can I get one of these?

Indiana has them, dunno about other states. Same deal as the renewable ones, just costs more. Around $100 if you already have a permit, IIRC around $140 if you don't. The renewables are around $30 for 3 or 4 years. No clases or anything required, just fill out the application and a fingerprint card, mail into the State Police and a few weeks or so later a permit arrives. Sign and laminate it, you're good for life.

kernel, you were the person I hoped who might have some insight to my question above...what do you think would be the likelyhood of the state revoking all CCW's?? Have you ever heard of this happening elsewhere? I really respect your opinions and answers and is the reason why I was hoping for your input. Thanks, gman

Depends on the state and the underlying laws. Get a governor and legislature that is anti-gun and CCW is just one law away from being history. If there are state constitutional issues involved, it gets more difficult though.

I will be getting one shortly.

I used to donate to the Ohio groups working to get a CHL in ohio, but when I went on disability and was not out collecting money from my payphones, I thought that I did not have a need for a CHL any more. I've changed my mind! so now I am waiting for a class date.

Can I change mine to yes? I got my paper in the mail today telling me I can pick it up at Sheriffs office

I actually got mine and I live in California, however no other state will recognize it.

I went to Sheriff's office today and picked it up. Now I don't need a gun-just show them the picture on the CCDW permit and they'll run.

Had one for many years, let it expire two months ago. Wa is a open carry state and can still have it in the car, Soooo---It's pretty easy to get here, pay the money, fill out the form, get your fingers inked and away ya go.:nanabang:

Sheriff's been paid and waiting for the call to pick it up!
Still sorting out the paperwork the Sheriffs Office gave me. As soon as I get paid I am on my way. :)

Our local sheriff is taking up 3 months to process renewals. The law states you only need to do it 30 day prior to. I've been waiting 80 days for my renewal to come back.

I've had CC since I bought my first handgun in WA. That was in 94 or 95. WA allows open carry, but folks who do often get harassed by the police.
With the recent rule change for National Parks I do not need to worry about that 1/4 of the State that is within their boundaries either.

I've had one for 30 years. Thank god I've never needed it, so far.

sure do :-D

Where is the "My state does right by the constitution and does not require a permit to carry" option ?
I can't honestly answer otherwise ....

Supposedly there was a proposal in Cingress to make CCW recognized nation-wide. That is if you have a CCW in one state, then it's good to go in all states. Don't know if it died in committee or what happened. Anyway, I carried for years without getting a CCW because here it's a misdemeanor punishable by a fine that's less than for littering or spitting on the sidewalk.

Still does me no good since my state has no permits, but would be a good idea overall.
I could always get a NH one if this ever did pass.
