View Full Version : How Long????

I have spoken with several manufacturers and distributors of AR kits. The common wisdom is that they will not have general stock of kits (or parts) for at least four to six months. The FFL's I deal with have said the same thing.
Anybody want to chime in here?

Midway is not taking backorders on uppers and the like, but I did get an email from them today:
MidwayUSA - Bushmaster AR-15 Patrolman M4 Upper Assembly 223 Remington 1 in 9" Twist 16" Barrel Chrome Lined Chrome Moly Matte Pre-Ban (http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=241847)

Lots of places aren't even accepting backorders.
I'm switching to AK building. At least I can get parts:loopeye:

If people or venders come to local gun shows with stuff, buy it there, if it's in front of your face and you have the funds you'll walk out the door with it.

Well, this is great, finished a couple of AK and was going to start with a AR. oh well, I guess I will have to wait awhile.

I just got in an AR15 stock assembly with spring plus, buffer and, an A4 top handle sight assembly. I waited two months for it to come in.
But, they had the AK muzzel brakes in.
An AK would be a bit easier to make up these days.

VZ58's seem to have jumped a little less in price than AR's or AK's.
It's all relative , but the Czech guns seem like the better deal right now.
Czechpoint USA - distributor of Sa vz. 58 rifles and Sa vz. 61 Scorpions (http://www.czechpoint-USA.com)
On firearms , Czechpoint pays the shipping & the dealer transfer fee.

If anyone wants one of those Czech military style VZ58's, I'd suggest getting one ASAP, I heard they are going to stop selling them and only offer the sporter model at a certain date.

What's the certain date?
One way to find out...
I could ask their US rep and the guy who does all of their warranty work ( such as it is , De-Tech seems to have super quality control) and post the results.
Or , someone else could , they both have a net/forum presence.
Or we can wait , and see if the new administration really is stupid enough to ban the import of Czech and Slovak guns and/or ammo while they have troops in A-stan.
Idealistic change meets the real world.

I ordered a lower parts kit from del ton a week before xmas, still havent heard anything from them. but thier website says 12-16 weeks. I should have ordered the upper at the same time, but didnt have the funds. Now I kind of wished I would have just bought AK kit and built it, at least I would have been done with it. jim

You might also check your local newspaper online classifieds. That is how I was able to get a LPK, spent a little more than normal but at least I have it and the build is progressing. Who knows how long this will last or if it will even end. Now, if I can get the money together for my DD FF forend and BCG put together I will be done.

i ordered a barrel from del-ton and a bolt form AA. was told at the time it would be 8 weeks or longer--maybe 12 to 16!
i ordered a bolt, bolt carrier and charging handle from LMT--they said ten working days. no telling when it will be shipped --my guess a couple weeks+.
on the bright side my DPMS lower that i ordered a month or so back that was on BO till X-mas 09. got a call on the DPMS day it is supposed to be in stock now. this is a regular price lower not one of those "obama" priced ones. although i am still concerned about it as i have no notifications of it being shipped yet--lol
ordered a cav-arms plastic lower. in stock and shipped the next day. ordered some small parts from M&A to finish up the cav-arms lower. they were in stock and shipped the next day.
you can still get some parts just like you all ways did. it just depends on what you order. bolts ,carriers ,barrels, lower and LPK are pretty much back order everywhere.
small parts, stocks, buffers springs some of the upper assembly can still be had for reasonable prices.
