View Full Version : Ohio Rapid Fire Receivers?

I saw on ORF's website that they have a basic metric FAL receiver for under $300!! That got my attention. Anyone have anything to say about it? I know ORF has had quality control issues in the past with their Galil receivers. So I'm open to hearing good or bad news about their FAL receivers.

They never happened. I have no idea why that ad is still up there.
I love this part.
"We are starting production Monday 6-12-2006 and I figure 60 days or less on delivery"
60 days my ass, it's been 3 years. LOL What a tool.

I just finished a Vz-58 built on an ORF receiver. Other than some minor fitting the thing went together great! I'll be taking it out to the range in the morning for the 1st time and will update my new build post if I have any problems.
I can't say enough good things about ORF. They answered all my questions, both before and after the sale. I read alot of posts about these receivers and asked them a ton of questions. My personal experience with them has been great.

Todd posted an update on the AK forum recently (http://www.theakforum.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=87318)

Too late, He's already missed the boat.
When He started that project, Imbel kits were plentiful and going for $150 a pop, those days are far behind us. They are few and far between nowadays.
His other problem is that they have no ejector block. Installing one correctly is paramount for reliable operation and requires a special drilling jig to do so. Anybody got one or know where to get one? I doubt it.

Time to dig up the old thread, ORF is still selling the FAL type III metric receivers for a short time @ $200.00 each. Myself & several friends bought some for builds to see how well they worked. The receivers seem to be good at first glance, but until all the parts are attached & working, anything is possible! I will post on this as the build goes on!

Just got my ORF Fal receiver today. Put 3 barrals on the receive, they all timmed by hand
at 11, just right. Everything seems to fit, and looks good.
For $200.00 it's a very good buy.
Sure hate to see them go down the tub.

Mine also timed at 11 like it is supposed to, now on to find the ejector block & get it installed!

I bought 5 of the FAL receivers from them. I had to do a lot of fitting on three of them for the ejector blocks, but the other two went right in. I have built three rifles so far on their receivers and have not had a problem yet. I have about 200 rounds through each.

I got the correct metric ejector block to install, but have not installed it yet. One of the guys in my group built & tested his to find no problems. The ORF receivers seem to be okay at this point.
On another point, Todd Grove is deceased as of last week, RIP!

ORF has apparently closed. Todd passed away recently and the family closed the shop. He had already sold the machine shop equipment due to his illness I guess. I would expect that the remaining inventory will be sold to someone else by the family/estate.

Todd passed away at a very young age unfortunately. His assets & deficeits will be sorted out in another place, this is not the place & time to debate that. He did manufacture a great deal of stuff that we needed & wanted to buy!
RIP Todd Grove........
