Sarco has the correct M1D scope mount for the Garand.

I have to agree with Zoom6zoom. You're pretty much going to ruin any collector value of an original M1 receiver by drilling the mounting holes in them. The base does remind me of a newer style M1C base though. B-square makes or made a scope mount for the M-1 if you want to go that route.

Thats ok...I don't mind drilling. It's not an original...

Fulton Armory has mount that replaces the rear upper hand guard and you use a heavy duty long eye relief scope and there's no drilling and can be put back to original configuration Fulton Armory Home Page (http://www.fulton-armory.com/)
I have one on mine because my eye's are not lke they used to be and I have 3-9 Burris Pistol scope on it.

Yes I know, and same with b-square, and S&S but are there any side mount ones, that screw into the receiver.

The griffin and howe M1C mount (which can also be seen on the fulton armory site) mounts on the side of the garand receiver with a few screws. But they aren't cheap. I suppose you might be able to find an old side mounting leveraction mount and make it work, but that'd look cheesy. It looks like there are 6 holes total in that mount. The local gunsmith here charges $10 per hole and for the 3-4 holes for a standard mount it isn't worth me running the risk of screwing it up. Just be aware of that cost when comparing costs between mounts.
