View Full Version : New Built 24" AR

I just built this AR in the last few weeks. It is a 24" heavy bull barrel AR 15 with a 1 and 8 twist. I put a plum Cary lower on it and basic A2 stock.
I was wondering if any of you know which round is better for a 24, the 69 grain or the 75 grain bullet?

in a 24" even a 75gr should work with 1-9" twist. one in 8" should be able to do 75gr with ease.
so you pretty much open all the way to 77gr and possibly higher weight with that long tube.

Some of the best groups I've ever shot with a 223/556 rifle were with the 69gr match kings over 23.5 gr H335 in a 1-8" barreled upper.

you should try several weights and types it might like one type of 69gr better than another and so on.
i have been shooting my uncles shop built savage with 24" stainless steel fluted bull barrel.
it can put 3 77gr in a dime @ 100 but it can put 3 69gr laupas nearly in the same hole--
and this is with 1-9" twist--LOL
