View Full Version : Converting a Saiga

The FFL guy I do business with has a customer who wants to convert his Saiga 12 from the imported version, back to the pistolgrip version! The newly converted Saiga will have the correct parts for 922r, so no problem there. The question is, is it legal for me to do the conversion for the dealer? I am just a hobbiest, not a licensed dealer or maunufacturer! I want no entanglemant with the ATFE over a conversion!

Yes and no. Yes you can help a friend with their conversion or be employed by an 07 FFL (manufacturer of firearms). No as in they cannot leave it with you for the specific purpose of the conversion unless you yourself are a licensed gunsmith.

I see it the way he said it.
If your going to do the work at his shop, then yes it's 100% legal, I wouldn't take it home.

Totally understood! I will not do the conversion as it seems to be more of a problem for me than I originally thought! The FFL can't do it as he has no tools!

FFL is easy to get. Just FYI.
