View Full Version : What optic for a MSG-90A1?

My rifle is getting a MSG-90A1 upgrade and I'm looking for an optic. I want to be able to shoot long range. I looked at some optics yesterday, but about fell over when I seen the $1700 pice tag on the Night Force scopes. Can someone point me to some refurbished optics at a lower price? I really hate to spend more than $400 max. I'm only going to use it for target shooting. I like the Nikon scopes.

Also looking at the Springfield Gen 2 model. I have found them in the $400 range.
Springfield Armory (http://www.bodermansports.com/Optics/Springfield_Armory/springfield_armory.html)
Anyone use this scope?

I got a Vortex $99 optic from SWFA and was very impressed. Lifetime warranty. They have several price points if you want more. Do some research on Vortex!

My wife gave me a early Christmas present!
It's been a year since this rifle was finished and now I have a scope for it. (I can go shoot it now!)
My wife gave me a Nikon PROSTAFF 5 3.5-14x40 Matte MD scope and a set of Burris Xtreme Tactical Rings.
I can't wait to try out the SPOT ON ballistics match technology http://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com/spoton/spoton.html#:4 on this rifle.
I use a Nikon on my slug gun and really like it. I hope this mill dot rifle scope works just as well.

Thanks, I wanted one of these MSG90A1 clones for years.
It just needs a bipod and trigger job now.
P.S. Check out my muzzle brake.
I bought this break many years ago from Bushmaster. I had to have a slip on collar made between the barrel shoulder and the muzzle break.
(HK has a different design than a AR and I needed a shoulder to tighten against)
My buddy Aaron from vtsupply, just dropped off the shims this morning I needed to time the break to the barrel.
You won't see another one quite like this. lol

I've been watching this video on how to work my PROSTAFF 5 3.5-14X40 MILL DOT scope. http://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com/spoton/tutorial/vid2/video2.htm
The on line program does all the work for you. This is so cool!
I can even download a app to my phone for calculating shots on the fly.

Took my rifle out on Saturday to shoot it for the first time. Man is it sweet!
I put 10 rounds down range to see how it would shoot, then cleaned it. I was told to shoot 10 rounds and clean the barrel for the first 200 rounds.
That's how I was told to break in this Lothar Walther barrel. I used some U.S. 7.62X51 military ammo from 1975. (It must have been in bandoliers for a M14?)
The Bushmaster Break, G3 Heavy Two Stage Buffer and E and L mfg rubber butt pad reduced the recoil to almost nothing.
