View Full Version : Romy drum w/o follower and spring
03-18-2005, 09:29 PM
Got the drums from the Weaponeer group buy today. 3 are in good shape 1 poor and depending on y'alls input may get sent back.
One of the drums is missing what appears to be a sping loaded piece of metal just below the feed lips.
Think this is fixable or should I send it back? If someone wants that drum (one on right) I'll let you have it for $27.25 + shipping.

After looking at these pics http://www.gunco.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2274
From this thread (http://www.gunco.net/forums/showthread.php?t=5214&page=3&pp=10&highlight=drum) all four were missing the locking knob and the wheel/paddles.

interesting, is this something that can be fixed?

I've got no idea. That's why I posted here.

That one on the right looks like a loser. I can build a lot of things, but that missing part looks labor intensive. You'd have more into building that part, than the whole drum.

That means mine is on the way. Im not looking forward to receiving mine then.

Has any one received the drum w/o follower yet?

Packratt double check the packing material it came in for the knob. I found two of mine mixed in with the peanuts. The wheel/paddle are missing in my drums too. One had a small spring on the shaft that I think attaches to the wheel/paddle thingy, so i might be missing 4 of those springs too. Unless that small spring was the one that was supposed to be missing.

Has any one received the drum w/o follower yet?
Not here, though it would of saved IO some money on shipping to put it in the giant box they used for the group buy forty round mags I received the other day. Maybe it will come next week.

I'll go fishing in the ghost s**t (peanut) bag for the locking knobs with a big magnet.
I'm seriously thinking about cutting my losses and calling them Monday for a RMA #. I'd rather get hit $20 for their restocking charge than the full $100. Without the wheels there is going to be way too much fabrication needed to get them functional.
I hope they aren't calling the wheel a follower in the drums w/springs. If so ...

Unfortunalty the magnet is out as they are aluminum. Kind of light to so I really had to shake the box to see if there was anything in there. Then the fishing begins. I had magnetic peanut parts, so I had peanut parts all over everything sticking. Luckly I was at work, so I just left:) I PMed shortrnd about it, and he said that he and Gary were checking into what to do about the wheel/paddle thingy.

Crack that baby open and shoot me some pics to my Weaponeer email (see my profile for link). The missing parts my even be in a wad of grease inside the drum.
03-19-2005, 10:28 PM
Da** I dumped that box of ghost S*** into a 30 gal garbage bag mostly full of it.
Here's a pic of an open drum
That drum is the one with the missing stuff in the tower. Not enough grease inside it to hide anything. No parts were in any of the drums just g.s.
I hope Gary and shortrnd get a quick response from IO about the major missing parts because they only have a 3 day inspection. Stuff llike the locking knob is makeable.

Call them and ask them to send you the parts you are missing and if not ask for an exchange.

It looks like I'm gonna be working overtime on these. I'm not sure what the entire story is with the drums. I'll be talking with Gary tonight to see what the scoop is. This is not what we were told would be shipping. I personally have received nothing at all (40 rnd mags, bayos, drums, ak kits) from the last round of group buys so I can't comment on condition.

Wow....you crack it open...and all you have is an echoooooo, with all that empty space! Sorry to see what happened there, hopefully they'll make it right on I/O's end.

Well guys thats all out sucks, I am a bit uneasy as to find out what they send my way. I havent recieved a damn thing yet either.

Well, knowing this bunch I hate to post this but can't resist.
It took a metal detector but I found all my nuts.

Hey that looks like a great start for a '74 drum. Just an idea :)
03-24-2005, 05:46 PM
I haven't gotten my drum either. Got my 40rd Ak mags, that were ordered after the drum though. You know IO use to be on everyone's S.L. before Joeken moved into town.
03-24-2005, 07:35 PM
Well with this drum mag debacle, I/O is working really hard to get back in the top two vendors on the Shi* list.
03-24-2005, 07:51 PM
They screwed up but when I called to day about canceling my brother's and my drum order they were nice about it and no problems getting a refund on the drums w/o springs and followers.
03-24-2005, 08:10 PM
Its not just the drums. Many of us got a bad deal on the 40rnd mags too. Mine have holes in the followers. There is a thread on weaponeer where I give links to pictures of them.
03-24-2005, 11:39 PM
I told them to go ahead with my order. Maybe I will be the lucky one and they will send me a hand picked one. In my AK dreams right???
