*Long Island Man Arrested For Defending Home With AK-47*

*Says Many Gang Members Were Coming After His Family*

*UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBS 2)* — He was arrested for protecting his property and family.
But it’s how the Long Island man did it that police say crossed the line.
He got an AK-47 assault rifle, pulled the trigger and he ended up in jail, reports CBS 2’s Pablo Guzman.
George Grier said he had to use his rifle on Sunday night to stop what he thought was going to be an invasion of his Uniondale home by a gang he thought might have been the vicious “MS-13.” He said the whole deal happened as he was about to drive his cousin home.
“I went around and went into the house, ran upstairs and told my wife to call the police. I get the gun and I go outside and I come into the doorway and now, by this time, they are in the driveway, back here near the house. I tell them, you know, ‘Can you please leave?’ Grier said.
Grier said the five men dared him to use the gun; and that their shouts brought another larger group of gang members in front of his house.
“He starts threatening my family, my life. ‘Oh you’re dead. I’m gonna kill your family and your babies. You’re dead.’ So when he says that, 20 others guys come rushing around the corner. And so I fired four warning shots into the grass,” Grier said.
Grier was later arrested. John Lewis is Grier’s attorney.
“What he’s initially charged with – A D felony reckless endangerment — requires a depraved indifference to human life, creating a risk that someone’s going to die. Shooting into a lawn doesn’t create a risk of anybody dying,” Lewis said.
Grier said he knew Nassau County Police employ the hi-tech “ShotSpotter” technology in his area and that the shooting would bring police in minutes. Cops told Guzman he was very cooperative.
Grier also said he was afraid the gang outside his house was the dreaded MS-13. And Nassau County Police Lt. Andrew Mulraine, head of the gang unit, said MS-13 has 2,000 members in the county.
“They’re probably the most organized. They almost have a military hierarchy within the gang, so they are the most organized gang we encounter on a daily basis,” Mulraine said.
You may think a person has the right to defend their home. But the law says you can only use physical force to deter physical force. Grier said he never saw anyone pull out a gun, so a court would have to decide on firing the gun.
Police determined Grier had the gun legally. He has no criminal record. And so he was not charged for the weapon.
That ShotSpotter technology pinpoints where a gun has been fired within 35 feet. Police said it also detected two other shootings in nearby Roosevelt that night.

red dot scope or magnefied?? on a yugo m70

heys guys i would like to ask the preference on a upgrade. i am installing a utg quad rail AKS-102 - AK-47 Handguard Quad Rail Leapers UTG M70 Yugo For Use With Models With Grenade Launcher Sights (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AKS102-6.html)

and also want some sights but can not make up my mind on a red dot or magnefied setup. what do most of you guys use and prefer? i am not expecting to do any long range trickshooting but would like something some help with accuracy. i am pretty accurate without anything but front sight at around 50 yards. i prefer something to help focus in quicker for those shtf situations and to make it worse i am trying to stay in the $50.00 to $75.00 range. i have found lots of red dot options in that price range but in the back of my mind feel like maybe there is a need for a long range scope.

also this will be for a century arms yugo m70 underfolder and i love how the rifle shoots but would love to put a retractable ar style stock on it at some time but see that this is virtually impossible it appears. can anyone throw some info on possibly making this possible? and if not maybe a point in the direction of a rubber butt pad that will fit the shoulder part of the metal stock? thanks in advance for any input.

Is the CNC Warrior AK74-style muzzle brake a genuine reproduction (with expansion chamber and baffles) or more for looks like the TAPCO? I am skeptical as it's only $15 but they generally make good stuff.

If it's not, does anyone in the US make a good 14x1 LH threaded 74-style brake?

getting m70 barrel off is tougher than I thought...

I may have bitten off more than I can chew...

i was using a gear puller and penetrating oil to press off my barrel ( after ruining it with a slipped brass nut) anyway, I chewed up 3 brass washers, and bent the gear puller trying to get this damn thing off, using a breaker bar and a 2 foot cheater pipe as leverage. Not a cheap $10 gear puller, a $40 craftsman 5-ton puller.

It hasn't budged a milimeter. Is it really this tough, or did I get a "special" kit.
Yes, I tapped the barrel pin and the gas block pin out. Both practically fell out, in comparison.

I don't know what to do, I have another barrel coming. Anyone have a tip, other than buy a 20-ton press?

Polish underfolder barrel question

I have to finish demilling my polish underfolder parts kit. Four rivets in the front trunion need drilled out, I would like to avoid removing the barrel to get at these troublesome rivets. Is it possible to do this? Could I just drill for the depth of the rivet, or is more trouble than it's worth. If I go this route, will it be a serious problem getting rivets back in? To tell the truth I'm just worried about getting the barrel back in, seems like they machine them to be a tight fit, If it will go back in without needing a barrel press I'm sure I can do it, but if not, I dont have access to a press so I'm kinda screwed. My local gun shop doesnt even have one, and even if he did, he doesnt have much respect for the AK so i dont know if i would trust him with it anyways. There are some good machine shops here in town that might be able to pull it off, I dont know if that's standard equipment though. I've got access to a drill press with a vise on it, and i'm gonna get some sharp bits to punch holes. I also have to drill rivets out of the trigger guard and one out of the rear trunion(the top one by the recoil spring holder). Am I in need of some help guys? I think so.

Is the barrel pin the only pin that comes out, or do you have to take the sight block pin out too? Or are there any other pins that need to come out before you push the barrel out?

On an interesting note (to me) I was watching a video of a guy removing his barrel pin with a 12 ton press. I looked at mine and took out a punch from my set and a framing hammer. 4 whacks later (not very hard) out it came. Unusual?

PSL-54C mod? help

Hello all. I am Mrlockandload from mrlockandload.com. I have PSL-54c that I have a question on. It is a Century Arms import. One of the new made in Romanian PSL's. I am not new to firearms and fine at doing my own mods. I modified a Hungarian SA-85m stock to fit her. Ill put pics up when I am done. Now to my question for you guys. When I put my 6x42 POSP scope on this rifle, the scope is canted quite a bit to the left. I can lean the whole rifle over a bit and make the reticle horizontal. I know that this will work but I would like to correct this physically. I have read that the guns and scopes are hand fitted overseas so I was wondering how as this is not the original scope for the rifle? From my own assessment there are two sections of the scope base that is about 1.5 inches long and 1 inch long that rests up agents the rifles top rail. These pieces are on the forward part and rear part of the scope mount. What I am thinking is to file and stone these down while adjusting the actual tightness of the mount to the rail. Dose anyone have any experience with correcting this? I wanted to ask you guys before I start removing material. Please let me know. Thanks
