Default AUTO ORDNANCE THOMPSON 1927 t1bsb

I am looking into buying a Kahr arms Thompson 1927 t1bsb SBR with detachable buttstock and have some questions..........

Does WW2 furniture fit the current Khar arms guns?
Have any members shot one or own one?
I have read reviews that said they are reliable....is this true?
Is it a waste of money?

The reason I want a thompson is because I shot an AR15 in 45acp and I realy liked it, but I like the look of the Thompson and the extra pounds of a low recoil pistol round carbine.

Any opinions? Or should I pass? Please post any Pros or Cons, Thanks.

I bought one last year and I love it. I haven't had any jams or other reliability issues that I've read about with the Auto ordinance guns. The furniture looks like its the same but I don't have a WWII stock to compare it to. The only bad things about it are when the rear sight is folded my old eyes cannot focus well enough to use the rear notch sight which is made different than the Lyman rear sight. I have no problem using the ladder type sight. I plan on replacing the rear sight with an original Lyman sight at some point. The gun is very heavy but at least you know you're buying good old American steel and not plastic thats gonna break in a few years. What a country has mags about the cheapest as you'll find, but you will have to modify them to work in the semi auto guns. Its pretty easy to do and I made a tool to help. I'll post a picture of it later. If you get it I hope you reload because those 45's don't last long with the thompson around.

I had one of these and it shot great. No jams and accurate. Heavy, but that tamed the recoil really well.

Here's the magizine jig to convert the auto thompson mags to fit your semi gun. The factory mag had been done with a dremmel, but this tool makes altering the mags a simple 30 second job, they're all the same and the hole looks better and not like some monkey took grinder to it until it fit. I made it from scrap and the drill bit is a 11/32 (I think, it measures 0.342"). I slide it on the mag until it hits the stop and tighten the thumb screw. Then place 11-12 fired cases in the mag to get the spring and follower out of the way of the drill bit and drill the mag to open up the hole. I hold the mag upside down while I'm removing the empty cases to allow any metal chips to fall out. The loaded mag has been altered and the empty one hasn't yet.

Thanks for the info guys, I plan to go ahead with getting one.
The mag jig looks like a great idea moleman but what do you think about altering the mag catch to fit USGI mags?

I think if you ground the mag catch it might end up being half its original thickness. Modifying the mags is the way to go.

I have the long barrel version and absolutly love it. never had a ftf or fte. Its quite, shooting with a thunk. At the 300 yards range I can lob them in and hit a man size target 5 out of 6 times. (I know not a "precision rifle" but.....)
