So I was shooting my Tantal, with corrosive I think Russian mil. surplus ammo, and didn't clean it for a couple of weeks, and now I'm sure when I previously cleaned my gun I didn't do the best cleaning job, so..... the gas tube now has rust in it, cleaned it with hot soapy water but it still has some in there, and the part that the gas piston goes into has some rust in it too, so my question is how do I clean that part? as well as the inside of the gas tube to get rid of all the rust??

+ I tried to dry cycle the bullets, did it 3 times and the bullet that went into the barrel didn't come out every time I cocked the gun (they were before my last shooting session) What could be causing that?

Cleaning with water will not remove rust. The point of cleaning with water is to flush the salts BEFORE the rust begins.
Try WD-40 as a rust remover. Spray it on and leave it for awhile. You can clean the tube and the rear part of the block with a 20 gauge brush or a .45 brush. I've ben told a 12 gauge brush works on the tube too.

corrosive ammo is BAD, BAD, BAD.
no one should ever shoot it. it really does mess up your rifles.

please only use non-corrosive ammo in your rifles.

save the old cheap corrosive ammo for the old cheap bastards to use. ( I R 1 )

i sure hope that you young guys get the message to not buy or shoot the old corrosive ammo in your rifles..

Hoppes #9 will not clean corrosive ammo well enough to stop the rust and barrel frosting, -ask me how I know. Make sure you clean your weapon 2 days in a row if shooting surplus ammo.

Nothing wrong with corrisve ammo. If your too lazy to clean your weapon, you should get another sport. God I hate "experts".

Some say Christmas trees stink too, but some love the smell enough to spray the fragrance in there homes.
I tend to like the smell of corrosive ammo, it is a little like hot ammonia.
But the real danger comes when shooters don't clean the guns. I don't clean at the range because there is almost always someone waiting to use the range. But as soon as I get home all the guns get cleaned, I also have red tags for the guns that have been shot with corrosive ammo. This is so the guns get the extra bath (swabbed out with soapy water 2X then rinse) that have shot the corrosive ammo.
