As I understand it, if a local PD wants Genuwine full auto M16s all they have to do is contact the feds and they will be provided free of charge, may have to pay for delivery though. Since LE doesn't have to play by the rules we do, a simple selector swap ($10) and they have semi automatic only fire. That would seem the cheapest route and most beneficial to the taxpayers.

If cost is no object, the SIG rifles are nice, as well as the FNC. Both are available for LE sales.

once again law enforcement using military weapons, they might as well get sigs with the silencers, if they are going to have military weapons, might as well have the best.

Since some nut job used an AK47, does that mean we civialians can buy what ever we want and have the taxpayers re-imburse us also, opps, i forgot .

Only LAW ENFORCEMENT, and MILITARY can own those types...

And what kind of liabilty does that open the dept. up to, if an officer shoots someone with an personal owned weapon...

I dont mean to sound negative about Police Depts. having those types of weapons, but where do they stop, just like the MP5SDs alot of SWAT teams have, give me one good reason why a Police Dept. Needs a surpressed weapon for...

My 2 cents I would go with a AR with a gas piston upper like P.O.F Its called a 416/15 dependent on configuration full auto or semi.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] this system takes all the short commings out of the AR.

KernelK. has the right idea besides the police and military are getting more and more alike lately sorta like the police states of Europe.....

Most police don't have the time to really learn marksmanship with their issue firearm and now their adding yet another to their inventory.

Remember the shoot-out in Camden, NJ where over 200 shots were fired by police and no hits.

I agree, the police are getting to much "Federal" aid. Pretty soon they will be like the National Guard which cannot operate "without" Federal aid. So in the end, who really controls them.

Wrong caliber, wrong application....AGAIN!

The Police departmant in my hometown of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (50,000 pop) just traded in their "Older than Bob Williams, and TWICE as Good" Remmy 870s for some version of a silly-ass pump 5.56x45mm.

Their validation was,...

"Suppose we get confronted with a "Columbine Type" situation,..what would we have to respond with?"

(I will not relay the story of the silly "goin's on" that took place a few years back when our town had an ... "ARMED GUNMAN...holed-up in a DRUG STORE" ...so as not to embarass my friends on the Police Deptartment.)

Suffice it to say,...My parents went to school here ('41) I went to the High School here ('71), back when we had 1,000 student graduating classes, my three kids ALL went here up until '03, and all were contained in a building holding THOUSANDS of students, teachers, cafeteria workers, and janitors.

The last thing I want running up and down the halls in my school is some half-trained and half-baked cops wielding M-16 style rifles with the penetration power of 5.56, spraying rounds like some scared to death 19 year old kids in Vietnam!

They need to properly TRAIN and then EQUIP the TEACHERS with the 870s they just DUMPED!!

Ouch!

PS,..or at least ARM the HALL MONITORS!
