Guys this has been said a hundred times. The prices that we came to know and love went up. Then we got to know and love the new prices and they went up. They may come down a LITTLE, but its not going to be as much as we would like. That is not the way things work in the modern world. Once the price goes up it is up to stay.

With that in mind, you might all want to think about several options. Which I myself am doing all off. First pay the prices for the ammo you can afford. Because it is not going to go down that much. Second, invest in the reloading equipment, and supplies. It is going to be a life saver down the road. And this stuff is still fairly reasonably priced right now. And last but not least, Stockpile! If you think it is bad now, it is only going to get worse. I personally have one of those TALL .50 cal ammo cans that is loaded almost to the top with .38spl target loads (158g SWC). I can use them for target practice as well as small game out to about 50 yrds.

Just remember this. When it comes to a point that buy ammo to shoot is too expensive, I personally will be prepared. Will you?

One word - RELOAD.

Second, buy ammo now...it's not going to get cheaper, in fact I see it only going up up and away, especially with shipping costs. Buy it whenever you can afford it. Instead of buying more guns buy ammo.

Third, get a scoped .22 bolt gun for practice and or a .22 semi for plinking, like a 10/22. Even though the cost of .22 ammo has gone up too, it's still way way cheaper than shooting surplus in larger calibers. A .22 for plinking will poke holes in paper just as well as anything else.

+1 The .22lr is probably one of the most efficient cartridges for its size. That and they make great squirrel guns!!!
