Default Problems with Bauer .25

I have a Bauer firearms .25 that seems to wanna jam every 3 rds. or so....the slide also feels gritty when you pull it back, not very smooth. Does anyone else own one of these guns, do you have the same problem? Are these just shity guns or what...its a cute little gun...stainless steel w/pearl grips...but thats all its got going for it.

Sounds like you have some galling of the stainless steel reciprocating parts. Fairly common on the early stainless steel guns before manufacturers started using different alloys for mating parts. Best bet is to find a gunsmith who can smooth the rails out again and use some stainless specific lube on it like RIG +P. If you want to try smoothing it out yourself, examine the rails carefully. If you see any metal transfer chunks that are very large, use a needle file to remove them. For small ones, put some fine valve grinding compound in the rails then hand cycle it a few dozen times, clean well, lube it with the good oil/grease and try it again. If it still feels gritty, repeat. Once the slide cycles smoothly your jamming problems might go away.

In their time they where nice little guns. Unfortunately their "time" was in the 70s. Your may try cleaning it real well, use a good lube and make sure you don't "limp wrist" it when you are firing it. I would try lapping the rails and see if that works. i would never rely on it as a defensive weapon. It is what it is , a little curio more fit for (as Gen Patton would put it) "a pimp in a cheap New Orleans whore house" No offense intended
