Unhappy RIG Grease No Longer Available

RIG Grease NO longer going to be available.

This off another forum.

" The manufacture is evidently dropping this product from their line up. The company was bought out and operations transfered overseas from what I can deduce. Midway is out and will not accept any more orders, Brownell's for the time being is accepting orders for back order. The lady I spoke with said they should be getting around 440 units in by late September and then they show no more. Two other distributors told me they cannot get any more deliveries as well. "

Huh, I never even thought of using RIG grease over the last 25 years. I won't miss it.

Where, just where, are you using any kind of grease in a firearm?

Oh yeah, M1 antiques or maybe the M1A.

RIG Universal Grease - 1 oz. - WHILE SUPPLIES LAST!
Silencio's RIG Universal Grease has been resisting rust and providing protection for guns since 1935. We have bought out the remaining inventory, and... $3.00

I just got two bottles of Classic Rust Blue from Brownell's and the directions state that the bore should be coated with RIG before plugging, applying rust solution, and boiling. When I checked the Brownell's site it said "nothing found" for the search for RIG. Does anyone know if RIG is necessary, worth it or what...WTF????

That company must be in California as it wanted to charge me tax on the RIG. The 3.5 oz. was $5.95 but the shipping was $6.00 anywhere is the CONUS. Geeeez, is it worth it or could I just put any old grease in the bore if I rust blue?

gear grease will work just as well for bluing.......you just need something to prevent the salts from bluing or attacking the bore............
