Question Talon Sling Swivels?

Has anybody ever used these swivels? They look much more quiet than standard swivels. The only other "quiet" swivels I have found are frickin' plastic. These are metal, and don't have the squeaky sling loop as a separate piece like standard swivels.

Does the talon have a lock on it to keep any side pressure from unlocking it? The original uncle mikes sling swivels didn't have the lock and could unlock themselves if you put a side load in the swivel causing your gun to drop. I've used ones like the brute only in plactic and they seemed to work well. The guy whos gun it was on put the screw in the threaded side so that it took quite a bit of effort to unscrew the screw enough to get the sling off.

To answer your question...I don't know exactly. I'm trying to find out about these things too. They look pretty good.

All it says in the ad is:

Strength and security are further enhanced with a stainless steel spring that locks the swivel to standard swivel bases.

They look a lot more beefy than the uncle mikes, but the lock up looks like its the old style of the uncle mikes. I had one of the old style uncle mikes sling swivels come undone years ago and unfortunatly the paint on my truck door broke the guns fall. For that reason I'd go with the brute unless the lock spring on the talon is pretty strong.

Can the Talon be loc-tite'd into place, or do you know? Honestly, I don't care about it being quick detachable or not. I just want something really tough and makes very little noise.

Upon a little more research, it appears the BRUTE swivels are actually plastic. Bummer.

One of the guys at work had ones just like them (might be the same ones) on his ar15. They didn't have a lock on the quick release like the new uncle mikes do. I liked that the loop part wasn't a separate piece, but my mind kept going back to lack of a lock and the 14" scratch in the paint on my 1 year old truck. I suppose you could locktite the quick release shut, but there has to be a better sling swivel out there. I did a little looking around and uncle mikes does have a "mil-spce" swivel.. Their words not mine. Brownells has them and they're item #593-000-002ec for $20.95. They look just like the talons but they have the lock ring like the current style of uncle mikes swivels. I'll see if I can find them.
