taurus 24/7 long-slide pro question??

taurus has been making some interesting pistols lately.

one that has caught my eye is the 24/7 pro long-slide and the 24/7 OSS.

any one have one? what is the single-action trigger pull like?

I had one for about a week. After shooting it, I decided it wasn't worth me even keeping. Sold it. The trigger is horrible. The take up is absolutely ridiculous. All slack, then after that it's a heavy trigger pull. Follow up shots are close to impossible due to this. Just my .02! And it's a double action, similiar to a glock. For a few dollars more buy a glock, or my personal choice a Springfield XD.

You are right, it was brand new, I only put 3 mags through it before getting rid of. I would try to find one to shoot before spending money on one though.

i handled a oss at a gun show last year. the SA trigger was pretty nice the DA well sucked. but i sort of suspect the gun show example was tuned up for a better than avg SA trigger.

i haven't handled one since and supposedly taurus has made some improvements. i guess i will have to find a shop that will let me handle one first.

A few years ago at a bass pro factory shoot I tried the then new 454 taurus raging bull. The darn thing shot ok single action (no where as good as my smiths) but in double action I could never get the gun to advance the cylinder in a single trigger pull. I'd pull the trigger and the cylinder would bind half way. If I let up on the trigger and pulled again it would advance the cylinder and fire though. I didn't want any part of the raging bull after that. I figured if they were smart they had given the gun the once over before it left for the factory shoot, and I was one of the first guys there on the first day, so it wasn't too dirty. A guy I worked with ended up buying one and his worked ok.

yea i don't know whats up with taurus these days.

i think i'll pass up on the 24/7 long-slide and get a witness match instead.

I had an OSS for a about a year. I had to send it back because the slide got peened over real bad by the barrel where it locks in. The barrel was chewed up in front where it tapers. And the trigger pull...HORRIBLE. Its very light forever and then instantly it clicks...

that is just what i was afraid of. i think i'll stick with the match single action pistol.

come to think of it i saw a few photos on GB and GA of used OSS pistols where the barrels looked overly worn where they mate up to the slide.

makes me suspect the steel it too soft. although i haven't handled a used 24/7/oss in person.
