Thanks Kernalkrink. I'd pay the $200 for the SBR AMD 65 but not to put a forward grip on a pistol. There was a guy on the local radio a couple days ago that was a NFA manufacturer and maybe I could get him to do it. Thanks for the advice.

After having my paperwork for over a week, my sheriff's secretary called while I was out of town. She told my wife that it would be ready for me to pick up in a couple of days, but she needed my social security number so that they could do a background check. I wonder if the sheriff doesn't know that the ATF does one or if he just doesn't want to look like he's dropped the ball by signing for someone who later fails an ATF background check.

i think it's perfectly legit for them to do a background check.

Perhaps, but I can't really see the reason when I already had one when I bought the receiver and the ATF is going to do another. Then again, this is the government, so efficiency is not a priority.

I picked up the signed paperwork from my sheriff today! When the next elections role around, I guess that I'll send him a donation along with a note thanking him for supporting our 2nd Amendment rights. I'll send off the documents in the morning. Hopefully I'll have all of my building tools by the time I receive the stamp.

Salbo,

A few questions before I send mine off...

1. There is a discrepency on the Form 1, one side says make checks payable to Dept. of Treasury, the other says BATFE....Does it matter????

2. Does the form mail to Washington or WV?????

3. Can you engrave the barrel instead of the receiver?

Thanks
