Default WTF is this about?

I was just informed by the VP of AIM surplus that no tracking information was allowed by BATFE to be sent to a customer for FFL transfers. Local BATFE said, never heard of that. Below is email from AIM:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
They will only send tracking to the dealer, as ATF doesn't want the customer to have it

I know many vendors don't do it (to prevent shipments from being re-routed), but have never seen an official directive on it. I also spoke with Aim this week; told them I understood why they didn't give me the tracking number, but that I would have appreciated notification that an order had shipped, even if I couldn't track it.

Not sure if it is a batf thing but I had the same thing from MGS when I got an AR Lower. Theoretically you could have it diverted... Not sure how though.

There is no law, its just the local ATFs opinion during our yearly inspections

I was under the impression that UPS packages with firearms had to be signed for by the recipient. Where is the line that FFL holders won’t cross? BATFE shouldn’t be putting opinions out there only information concerning law.

I bought an AR lower from them in MAY and I didnt have this issue. The bad thing is, I contacted my local BATFE office in Chlt NC and they had never heard of this before but said it sounds like a good idea.

Welcome to the forum BBill

Yeah that's weird, I'll try to remember this and ask my local shop if he ever heard of this.

I've gotten tracking numbers from all my Davidson's gun buys.
