If I understand correctly then there are differances in the SB2 shotgun and the rifle??You should get the SB2 shotgun frame as it has bigger firing pin.
I got this 45-70 with a trade on some other stuff i have only shot i a few times and i was thinking of ordering a shot gun and a light small calibur rifle barrel and make a trunk gun / just to bring along gun. but it would also be interesting to build a SG FH barrel for it along with spare weigted stock in case polar bears move into wisconsin due to the recent US ban on bringing back hides from Canadia.
after spending 4 years develping the ultimate deer hunting AK pistol for the local shotgun/pistol hunting area. maybe I do need a SGFH to go with it.
I was thinking that a real long 20 or 28 guage with a rifled berrel might give better FPS an accuracy and not have the recoil. just thinking out loud here
For 10ga you can use our 1 3/4 oz slug loads in 3.5" plastic cases.
We get 1800 plus. That is 765 gr slug. We use 110 gr of
IMR 4227 powder. Gun is weighted.
The SB2 rifle and SB2 shotgun frames are only different in firing pins.
Both are alloy and heat treated. What I'd do with the 45-70
for fun is lengthen chamber for 45-120 or make a 450 NE.
Others get an extra barrel fitted for varmint calibers.

Hey those brass slugs look great! How do you go about tweaking them to the proper weight? Are they "weighed" on the dimensions while still on the lathe? Or do you turn them down, weigh them, then put them back on the lathe?

The big brass slugs are made by others on CNC machines so they
can get the exact weight with a program. In the picture it
is the one with flat nose and longer. To make other versions
I turned them to shape, only being concerned with the shape.Ed
Here is a picture of our 12ga case in
the Savage bolt. You can see the 2 of the 3 lugs.
Very strong gun.Ed

The first 12GA FH was Robs on AR forum, my Savage was 2nd.
Here is closeup pic of Rob's 12GA FH, a Borchardt falling block
action. Real nice. In picture is along brass 12ga case with one
of Rob's 2000gr bore rider, solid, streamlined slugs. Ed
