There's a communist and traitor in the gun industry. We must call for a boycott of Cooper Arms! We can vote with our wallets!

Dan Cooper, a proud member of the National Rifle Association, has backed Republicans for most of his life. He's the chief executive of Cooper Arms, a small Montana company that makes hunting rifles.
Cooper said he voted for George W. Bush in 2000, having voted in past elections for every Republican presidential nominee back to Richard Nixon. In October 1992, he presented a specially made rifle to the first President. Bush during a Billings campaign event.
This year, Cooper has given $3,300 to the campaign of Democrat Barack Obama. That's on top of the $1,000 check he wrote to Obama's U.S. Senate campaign in 2004, after he was dazzled by Obama's speech at that year's Democratic National Convention.

The NRA was infiltrated many years ago, this doesn't suprise me at all. Along with Jacques, they'll propagandize America back to small caliber muzzleloaders.
I'm startled at the effect Obama seems to have on people. I have seen on other shooting sigts as many as half the commenters planning to vote Obama, you can't convince them they're voting to lose their own rights. It's spooky.

So, is this true? Did anyone ask Mr Cooper why he did that? Most intelligent folks know that there's two sides to every story......

Regarding the USA Today Article. Cooper Firearms of Montana, Inc. did not contribute and does not support in any fashion the campaign of Senator Obama.
Nine months ago Dan Cooper (personally) made an online donation to the campaign in an effort to help defeat Hillary Clinton and in protest of American plant closures and the shipping of jobs overseas. Three months ago he made yet another donation to the McCain campaign and the RNC totaling over twice that given to Obama campaign.
There is no doubt that the article in USA Today has caused a considerable response. To this end we are encouraged and stand with our fellow NRA members and supporters of the Second Amendment and against those who oppose it.

Black Blade: I bet he got a lot of grief over that article. Hopefully this statement is correct and the company isn't just shining us on. However, the USA Today article was quite explicit in quoting Cooper as being "dazzled" by Obama and this quote doesn't inspire confidence either:
Quote:
Cooper changed sides, he said, "probably because of the war. And also because the Republican Party has moved so far right in recent years." He also likes Obama's message about "the retooling of America, which involves the building of middle-class jobs and helping American small business be competitive with those overseas."
Looks like support for Obama to me. I think I would want more of an explanation than some pandering message from the company website. In the meantime I call for all out BOYCOTT!

Saw this response by another retailer going around the web
WOW, just wow, I'm almost speachless!
I just finished reading the article about how the namesake of your company donated funds to the campaign of obama? What in the hell were you thinking? I'm in shock.
While I hate the clintons as much as anyone, I would never consider donating to a candidate who is as bad if not worse. You put a knife into the backs of EVERY gun owning, freedom loving American in this nation, and helped to put someone who WILL be the death of the firearms industry into office...
And backstepping is just that, backstepping. Even though you did contribute to the McCain/Palin ticket, the damage was already done and it's too late to CYA! Treason is treason no matter what you try to do afterwards, and you being in the firearms industry should understand that more than anyone, as we DON'T FORGET those who do us wrong. The internet forums are full of people who are at this time planning on boycotting your company just like we/they did when S&W screwed us over back in 1994, it took them a long time to recover as it will you.
As an American and as the G.M. of a fast growing firearms and surplus business in Virginia, I can promise that your products will NEVER grace my store, nor will they ever find a way into my personal collection. I sincerely hope that your "statement," however absurd it was, was worth the loss of business it shall reap.
Sincerely, James R. Lalime.
General Manager, Liberty Firearms & Surplus.
