dcholl,,,Wooh up there,,,,, don't take that to the bank,,,, look on the 4473 0r whatever it is,, one of the questions is " are you the actual purchaser,, meaning is it for you. If you say no you won't get approved when the dealer calls it in to ATF. They got ya that way, you have to transfer it, on that same form,,, I was told by a lawyer,,, to be a legal transfer, there doesn't have to have money changing hands, but just the gun as a "gift",, requires the paperwork to be done again for the new owner, so I presume it has to go to a dealer, then logged in ,, then transferred by them to the recipient, and logged back out of there books. More hidden fee's, just to stay legal if you want to give your kid a gun for x-mas or a birthday,,,,,,, WTF???? Does that make any sense???
I haven't called ATF on this one ,, but that's what a lawyer friend told me,, weather it's right or wrong,,,duno??? But sure seems like a good way to turn anybody into a crook without even knowing you've done anything wrong. Careful on this one,,, "letter of the law", shit ya know!!!.
