Federal appeals court tosses state ban on carrying concealed weapons

SPRINGFIELD-In a huge win for gun-rights groups, a federal appeals court in Chicago Tuesday tossed the state's ban on carrying concealed weapons and gave Illinois' Legislature 180 days to craft a law legalizing concealed carry.

"The debate is over. We won. And there will be a statewide carry law in 2013," said Todd Vandermyde, a lobbyist for the National Rifle Association.

In a split opinion (see below), the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a lower court ruling in two cases downstate that upheld the state's longstanding prohibition against carrying concealed weapons.

Illinois is the only state with an outright prohibition on concealed carry.

what is so wrong with a concealed carry anyway? is it just the fact that it involves a gun? those that are against it should ever need a gun out in public. like the wife being raped in front of them or their kids being beat and kicked to death in front of them while walking to their car out night. its just like religion there are no athiest in a fox hole when the shtf.

Depending on how the pending case in Maryland over "good cause" and may issue works out, Kommiefornication might just have to change. God willing and the creek don't rise.

they will set it up like the system in NJ/NYC only ex cops and political hacks can get them, screw the common man, they'all get together at a two lobster a day golf luncheon and discuss how did you repress the comman man in your state and apply that model in Illinois

everytime they pass a new law in ireland its modeled after a law in NYC, Mass or NJ the cops come over as guest and go back with idea's on how to repress the common man and it works in socialist states n countries.

Citzens just cannot be trusted with firearms, only professionals can! At least according to the Commocrats.
