My maternal grandmother and grandfather lived in Lakehurst, and spoke of the Hindenburg often when I was young.

That was a wild and fast burn...

They never discoverd what exactly caused the disaster...

it was static discharge and the dope they used to seal the gas bag was later used as hi-octane rocket fuel. having hydrogen to fill the gas bags was not a good idea either.

there were several problems with the airship --there was three major fire problems that were overlooked during the building of the ship maybe more.

the "hindenburg" is the "Titanic" of the air in many ways.

My father was a guard at the wreckage site. My brother and I each have a piece of aluminum cut from the tail.

My Grandmother saw it burn, if I remember my family history. I know some of my aunts and uncles did.

Had a friend in grade school who's father was a passenger.
