Home invasion prevented by Glock/AK
Small story if you want a good read.
We have just recently moved from the fifth circle of hell into a new house. I cannot be happier. Mostly because we are away from rather annoying prowlers that plagued us nightly. There had been many disturbances, but the last one set me off. Here is the story. One night my mother, little brother, girlfriend and I were sitting in the dining room playing cards. It was around 10:00 pm or so. We heard something strange from the back door, so I grabbed my Glock 23 and a flashlight to check. There was nothing there so we continued playing. About 5 minutes later, it happened again. So i grabbed my gear and my brother grabbed my AK-47 and went to inspect...nothing... we tripped the motion sensor light as we came back in. The light went out almost immediately. This was odd because the light was set to stay on 15 seconds. we went outside to check one more time and discovered that the lightbulb had been unscrewed. This was very unsettling. As we went inside again, we heard an extremely hard strike on the side of the house. This time we ran outside and caught the person as he was trying to hide. With a Glock 23 and an AK-47 in his face he turned and ran through the woods. We chased him a small way ( as well as keeping a good eye on the women) and then he disapeared. We called the police where they found a few window screens pryed open and a few dents in the house. We moved a few days after that. Thank god for such convinient weapons such as a Glock or AK. High powered, easy to use and scary as hell when you're looking through the front sight on the opposite end

Fight gun crime.... shoot back
Think of me as a lumberjack. Tough....strong....and when I use sharp tools, I get wood.

Score one for the Good Guys.
Thank God it did not get worse. Wow.
Same thing happened to me bud. But they didn't get near the house.
Heart pounding, trying to flip the safety on the S&W, trying to hold the damn flashlight while doing all this. Yup, now my Glock is ready to "Rock and Roll."
They broke into my sisters house in Connecticut. Security lites are only good if they work. Criminals are getting smarter and more desperate. Did the same thing to her. Unscrewed the damn bulbs. Check them once a week.
Good thing nobody got hurt. Bet that jerk went home and changed his underwear.

Right on, Andrew EB! Why not Glocks and AKs for your other family members, too?

wow wow wow - I too am glad that everything is OK and you're safe!
It seems rather brazen (or completely stupid) of the idiot that although you were there and responded to the first noises he made, that he was continuing to try to break in.
I'd have shot the fucker... how could you know if the guy wasn't going to shoot you? I think that would have been a justifiable use of force. If it was broad daylight it might have been arguably different, but in that moment in the dark, you just don't know! He may have been armed and simply chose to run away since there were two guns pointed at him instead of one.

I posted this before, but the first thing the cop said when he showed up at my house was, "Damn couldn't you get a shot at him."
When they broke into my sisters house they came prepared. Glass cutter for the window, gloves, unscrewed the security lights. Pro.
Having installed security systems for awhile. It was the same story at every house we went too. "I never thought this would happen to me."
The solution, a dog. Screw the security systems. One job we were on.
Thief stuck his hand through a window and Bingo. Mr. Doggie said No No.
Your Didn't really hurt the guy. Just clamped down till the cops got there. Good Doggie.
Economy goes down. Crime goes up. Be prepared.

Good point about crime and the economy.
I may sound harsh in how I would have handled it, but our house was burgled twice in two years when I was 14 and 16. I was the one who found the house since I was first home after school.
They kicked in the front door and made a fast grab of the items that weren't bolted down such as small TV, VCR (big deal back then!) and other things. I think his nice camera too. Easily pawnable items. Went out through the garage, probably backed up to the door.
My dad installed iron grate security doors, double deadbolts, and reinforced the frames around the door so they couldn't kick it in. A truck and tow chain is the only way to get the doors off now! He put the biggest security lights (like street lights) in the front and back yard, so there is no way someone can hide in the dark now. They don't leave the windows open so there's no way to enter the house without breaking a bunch of glass.
He also hid the safe in the garage in such a way that it looks like a part of the shelving, all tucked away in a cramped little space. It is so huge that there's no way someone could move it, but even if they tried, it is bolted to the wall and floor with HUGE anchors, so I don't know if even a forklift could move it! And there's no way you could reach it with a forklift anyway.
Food for thought.
