Default Hypocrisy Of Liberals Who Cling To Their Guns

Hypocrisy Of Liberals Who Cling To Their Guns

Posted 06:56 PM ET

Gun Control: A different set of gun laws applies to network anchors, but even stranger is a newspaper publishing a map showing not only who has a firearm but also telling predators who doesn't.

It should have been sufficient for the Gannett-owned Journal News, headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., reporting on increased calls for stricter gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre in nearby Newtown, Conn., to have noted that about 44,000 people in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties in the Lower Hudson Valley — one of every 23 adults — was licensed to own a handgun.

But using data obtained under a Freedom of Information Act request, the paper went further and printed an interactive map showing the names and addresses of gun permit holders — a pathetic attempt to shame and embarrass them for exercising their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

In an editor's note accompanying the map, it's pointed out that Journal News reporter Dwight R. Worley hypocritically owns a Smith & Wesson 686.357 Magnum and has had a residence permit in New York City for that weapon. It is not known if his house is one marked on the map, but at least he can post a "Protected by Smith & Wesson" sign.

Hypocrisy among those supporting more gun control is nothing knew — from the liberal elites who live in gated communities to Hollywood and music industry stars who travel with armed entourages. Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California is readying legislation to reintroduce the ineffective 1994 ban on assault weapons that expired in 2004 with no impact on the crime rate.

Yet, as radio talk show host Mark Levin points out, Feinstein owns a concealed firearm. "If somebody tries to take me out," she says, "I'm going to take them with me." Seems her life matters more than those of her constituents.

The apparent thrust of the Journal News piece and the paper's position is that guns are dangerous, even though the story's author owns one, and that readers should know which of their neighbors has a firearm and is a potential loose cannon, no pun intended, that threatens their safety.

But it's the Journal News that threatens their safety, because all an armed predator has to do is avoid those homes marked on the map and hit the unmarked. Avoid the red dots and break into the other homes in clearly discernible gun-free zones. Perhaps we could publish maps listing the names and addresses of gun control advocates, those with gun permits, and those who do and those who don't leave home without packing heat.

"Meet the Press" host David Gregory apparently broke a law by waving an empty high-capacity ammunition clip on the air last Sunday during an interview with the NRA's Wayne LaPierre. Under D.C. law, it's illegal to possess even an empty clip. So far the Journal News has not called for his arrest for doing what would be a felony for the rest of us.

What Gregory and the Journal News don't tell us is that over the last 20 years, the firearm crime rate has dropped, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, from 6 victims per 1,000 residents in 1994 to 1.4 victims per 1,000 residents in 2009. This has happened as more and more citizens arm themselves.

Only a handful of states had concealed-carry programs 25 years ago, when the violent-crime rate peaked.

Today, 41 states either allow carrying without a permit or have "shall issue" laws. Major crimes, except in gun-controlled major cities, have shown a continuing decline that has paralleled the rise in the number of right-to-carry states.

As the NRA's LaPierre says, the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

This section pretty much sums up how the politicians view our rights as compared to theirs..
The sad fact of the matter is that more sheeple voted for her Vs. the other guy, which is showing a sad trend in this country.
NH pretty much voted out all of our pro 2nd folks for all of these gun grabbers, I can't wait to see how things change here in the next couple of years.
The sheeple actually seem to want this shit!
Fucking mess...

sort of like rosie O donnel and her platoon of SMG carrying body guards--

the media types and political demigogs like to THINK their all important and that their so important they got "enemy" types out their with all kinds of drawn out plots against them.

in reality their not that important --only in their own minds.

there might be a wack-job that might go nutz and try to get them--ironically the very policy they voted on likely turned this ex-convict or nut loose on us all--

it is all sort of self inflicted--and everybody else and even inanimate objects gets the blame--

how diluted is that?

"Without a permit or have "shall issue" laws." The rest of the states have some form of discretionary permit system like NYC where some local yahoo has the say on whether or not you can carry. "Shall Issue" states are where they can't deny ya unless your background check comes back with a disqualifying conviction, or yer check bounces. "May Issue" states they can deny ya based on yer hair color if they want to. 7th Circuit just told IL they have to allow carry, and have 6 months to write a carry law or they automatically go to legal carry with no restrictions or permit required. Wanna bet they go with "May Issue"?
