Being LEO and knowing what I know now, I ask questions. The problem is too many of us out there "trust" what the supervisor tells them. If they told me (back then) there is an armed murderer in that house. He came to the door and POINTED (that being the main thing and I said before you pound on my door at 130 I will have a gun). I could see why the officer would shoot. NOT saying justified because ignorance is not a free pass. It needs to convicted from the top down.
If they thought there was a wanted person there, get swat, surround the place AND MAKE CONTACT. Use a stupid blow horn if needed. Anyone wants to say you can't do that BS I've don't it myself and never shot an innocent person.

The poor guy was like the rest of us in a way. We all would have had a gun, we see it's the police and freeze and start to talk to them to not cause panic while they panic and shoot. If he would have been a threat, he would have gotten off a shot.

Now for another reality check. The cops had on body armor, so they could have afforded to wait and try to disarm the situation, or at least look carefully at the gun to see if it starts to lower after recognition. I know it happens fast, but we have to be sure, so should they!

There was a "BAD INTEL" shooting here in Atl GA there was at least some jail time, so those who say no one ever gets convicted, thats not the case here.

They shot a 92 yr old female on a F-ed up drug raid, Only light to the story is she thought it was an home invasion and got off some rounds hitting the cops. Not bad for a old lady being shot.

Might be because the FBI investigated the case ?????

enough is enough.....they drew first blood, many times over and over and over....... how long does it take all the all the peoples camps, black,white,hispanic,jewish,moslin,and what ever and unite to say, hey,, im as mad as hell and im not going to take any more. get together and say no more.something off of the movie network that sounded appropriated right now. but really they do have it ough and i dont have the answers like everyone else but dont everyone agree that somethings need to change? thats a given. but what?? training yes, but much more is neede. everyear they look more paramilitary than a mayberry andy. their training is focus on to much combat scenarios than your neighbors back yard.to much on the letter of the law than the spirit of the law. dont have any answers but alot of questions. they do a important job but tv i feel have clouded many of peoples minds theses days of alot of old values.just an ideal and hope i dont piss to many off.

What is notable concerning that case is that the officers lied on the warrant and blackmailed a low level dealer into backing them up. The dealer went to the Newspaper because he knew the Atlanta Police were the problem.

The Mayor's Mansion was being used by a high level dealer (and sil) as a hideout and the Mayor's husband was laundering funds through an Airport concession.

10 years ago there were some low securuty prision escapeis hidding in the brn two doors down. Hell I have a gun close when ever any stranger knocks. You just never know wo you pissed off or what some one thinks. ther no trasspessing / soliciting sign is the first clue you had better hav a reason to knock.

Well I support Police and understand they have a tough job, but your job is to protect and serva and blasting some guy for being cautious is a tough thing to explain in the terms of doing your job. I spent a lot of time havinng to adhere to the rules of engagement and as much as it sucks or doesnt make sense you need to follow not only a set of rules, but make ethical decisions. Call me biased, but if I can't engage a person holding a weapon in a country that I'm fighting a war in, then there is absolutely no way you can do it within our borders.
