Unhappy looking at buying 2 more ak type rifles, help

...who still has wasr 10's in stock, and for about $400? also, where is the best deal for ak74 mags in 5.45? as a side note, which caliber do you prefer, and why. how is the accuracy of the 7.62 vs. the 5.45 at 300 yards. i have a yugo m70ab2, how does it compare to a rifle of comparable price ( polish tantal) in terms of punch/control? thanks!

Hit the small gun shows and check for the weapons your looking for.
I just looked at a Maddi for 400 bucks. Did not buy cause I have too many damn weapons now.
I prefer the 7.62x39. But it seems the worlds AKs are switching to the 5.45. ??
As far a knockdown power I always refer back to what Massad Ayoob said.
"It is better to hit someone with a .22 than miss them with a .50 cal."
You could take that for what it is worth. I sure would not want to hit a charging grizzly bear with a .22.
Damn it seems like only a very short time ago those darn Wassr AKs were all over the guns shows for like 300 bucks.
I have one and hell I squeeze the trigger and it goes bang so I guess I like it.
Whatever you decide on I would move on it. Seems everyone and there brother wants an AK these days. Prices are only going to go up.
People in my A.O. know I build and collect them and now I am getting contacted by all sorts of them looking to purchase. NOOOOO sorry.
Don't make a choice between weapons. Hell buy one of each.

With almost two decades now of experience with the A2/M4 series in 5.56, I see little difference from the 5.45 generally speaking.
My personal weapon at home is 7.62 x 39. I intend to keep it that way. I have more faith in 30 cal and above.

Have what?

A 5.45 will have flatter trajectory at 300 yards. But, it won't hit as hard as 7.62. What are you looking for?

Default Try This!!!

Howdy,

JG Sales has them listed, but back-ordered. I would call them first. They are listed at $489.00ish, buy two and get a $20 discount per rifle.

As for 5.45 Vs. 7.62, crapshoot. Some think they are the same in terms of knockdown and accuracy, other opinions differ. I had a bolt action CZ in 5.45x39, and I was very pleased with the accuracy of otherwise surplus crap ammo. Roughly 1.75MOA at 100 yards, using a 4x scope. I get about the same out of a 7.62x39 Bolt gun, so take it for what it is worth. I have Yugo SKS rifles that perform just as well..... One benefit is that 5.45x39 is selling in spam cans of 1080 rounds for about $129.00 So stock up on that if you buy the rifles while the pricing is good.

Good Luck,,

Let us know how this turns out. I would love to read a range report.

If your stationary , and do not mind a lot of weight a 7.62 is awesome, if you wish to carry lots ammo while traveling a 5.54 is the best. I know that my daughter does not like a AK47 and loves "her" AK74... and it is not just the kick of the gun... she is 20 and shots a lot bigger guns with more kick. As far as knock down goes , the bullets from the 74 with the cavitation that they are supposed to generate is very good; but only believe half of what you see and prove all the you read.

Funny thing now is that the usual gun and ammo dealer sites are not updating as they are literally swamped. I already have people asking me if I will sell them an AK or any "black" gun. Makes me curious what they will do when the food supplies start to run low at the local stores. This could be a good object lesson here for WTSHTF and the economy really gets bad.
